Where do we source our Australian Gems from?

With a country the size of Australia, it’s not surprising that there are many beautiful stones to be found here, from the rich earthy coloured varieties of Jasper from Western Australia, to the vibrant purple Amethyst from Queensland.  Our range of silver jewellery includes collections designed and inspired by our travels through the diverse Australian landscape in search of gems, crystals and semi-precious stones.

The search for gems can be likened to a treasure hunt, beginning with researching areas where stones have been found .
Many of the rugged mountain ranges and remote regions were explored by gold and tin miners during the late 1880′s. Seeking only precious metals, they often discarded colourful gems, as they were of little value at the time. Many of these gem deposits were recorded in early geological journals and maps, later to be re-discovered by lapidary enthusiasts in the 1960′s. Some of these old prospecting areas contained beautiful and rare stones, left behind by the early miners. In the tablelands of eastern Australia, many of these old mining regions still produce fine quality gems today, although many of the areas have been well searched.

A little more research and knowledge about geology leads the treasure hunt towards finding new, undiscovered locations and some of our latest adventures through outback Australia have seen some fine gems and crystals uncovered.

Richly coloured Kyanite from the Northern Territory and sparkling crystals of clear Quartz are just some of the vibrant stones that have been featured in our latest jewellery designs.

In addition to collecting our own stones, we also network with other lapidary dealers and collectors, both here in Australia and internationally. We source only the finest stones for use in our jewellery collections. This hands-on approach means each piece of Entia Jewellery comes with a unique story and has been created through our inspired passion for the natural world.
